THIRD ACADEMIC SALON FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF 2021 GRADE

环球360管理网举办2021级留学生第三次学术沙龙

       The third academic salon, which was  organized by the Faculty of Education, SWU took place on January 13th. The academic activity gave students the chance to have interactions with professors from the faculty. Students also seized the opportunity to meet colleagues from the faculty. This academic salon was chaired by the Head Teacher Dr. Zhou Ling. In attendance were Associate Prof. Li Yi and Associate Prof. Hou Yuna. The students gave wonderful presentations about performance during the first semester and fulfillment of their future studies which received a lot of positive remarks and suggestions from the teachers and colleagues .

       1月13日，环球360管理网迎来了2021级留学生第三次学术沙龙。这次学术活动提供给学生与教授互动、与同学交流的机会。本次沙龙由班主任周玲老师主持，出席沙龙的还有侯玉娜副教授和李毅副教授。三位硕士生同学就专业理解、研究兴趣、学习收获和未来学业的规划等内容作出了精彩的汇报，在获得老师和同学们肯定的同时，还收获了诸多有益的建议。

       The salon saw three masters’ students from the Faculty of Education give insightful presentation around the areas of their major course of study, learning gains and interest from previous semester, research interest and future learning plans. Each presentation was welcomed with good compliments and necessary suggestions from professors and senior colleagues present. 

       Amir Khan, a masters student from the faculty with Educational Economics and Management as his major was the first to present. He gave a detailed presentation starting from his understanding on the course, Educational Economics and Management. He later talked about the current status of his major in relation to his home country, Pakistan. Amir discussed the need for educationalists in Pakistan to reduce the rate of out-of-school children in Pakistan which is ranked second in the world in terms of out-of-school children. He concluded by sharing his future goals and also discussed a few personal challenges in the course of the semester citing online learning as the major one. 

       The second presenter was Irwansyah from Indonesia, majoring in Comparative Education. He gave a presentation on his understanding on Comparative Education and his reasons for choosing it as his major. He raised an interesting research area in Bullying which caught the interest of the professors and most people present. He explained how bullying has been a major challenge in Schools in his home country. 

       The salon was climaxed with the last presentation from Derrick Appiah, a masters student with a major of Theory of Curriculum and Instruction. The Ghanaian student, like his colleagues had his presentation covering the areas of his understanding on his major, research interests and learning gains. He talked about how frequent change of government in his home country has impeded the progress of consistent curriculum implementation in his home country.

       The professors and Phd classmates present gave their general recommendations concerning the salon. Corrections were made where necessary and praises were given where due.

       The salon was a success and all participants were glad to be part of this event. Professors and senior colleagues were impressed by the presentations given by the Master students and encouraged them to do more. Presenters were also glad as they admitted to have learnt and benefited a lot from the activity.
